WISWEX Istanbul 2015 - Day 2

Today was our second day off. The weather was rainy and cloudy today, but we still had a great day. We woke up and met the son of Mr.Erkalan, Anass. Together with Anass and two of his friends we went to the Bosphurus bridge, a bridge which connects the European part with the Asian part of Istanbul. Anass and his friends were very nice and we talked about the different culture of Turkey and the Netherlands. Close to the bridge was a big mosque, the Ortakoye Mecideye mosque. We snapped some pictures and then had a traditional turkish lunch, called Kumpir. This is a big potato filled with butter, cheese, vegetables and sauce. We also had some traditional Turkish coffee that was really strong but tasted wonderful. This was all great.
After our visit to the bridge we visited more cultural/historical places. We went to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace by tram. We only had to walk 5 minutes from the tram station which was a nice advantage. After our visits we had dinner at a nice restaurant. We enjoyed our food and returned to the hotel.
We saw a lot of the culture of Turkey and had a wonderful day. Tomorrow work starts and we are also looking forward to this.
